Responsibilities
• To solve protein structures using X-ray crystallography technique to inform the interaction mode of compounds
• To help guide the production of suitable protein for structural studies by working closely with Protein Science colleagues
• Facilitate internal collaborations to address issues related to accessing certain protein families for structural work
• Effectively coordinate and communicate timely results through presentations, e-mails and reports
Required skills
• PhD in a structural biology with 3-5 years of postdoctoral/industrial experience in small molecule drug discovery
• Hands-on experience and demonstrated success of protein crystallization, optimization, data collection and crystal structure determination
• Familiar with state-of-the-art liquid handling robotics in protein crystallization as well as mounting of protein crystals and collecting x-ray diffraction data on in-house or synchrotron radiation sources
• Strong knowledge and understanding of biophysical methods, such as SPR and DSC/DSF
• Attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, goal-oriented team
• Responsible as project technical lead on multiple projects, with responsibility for project outcome and customer interaction, including developing customer relationship to grow the business
Desirable skills & Experiences
• Experience with the crystallization of membrane proteins is a plus
• Experience with multiple hit ID, fragment-based technologies, and assays for in vitro campaigns is preferred
• Use of molecular biology and structure prediction analysis software
• Basic chemistry knowledge in the area of protein-ligand interactions
